Henkel will present new formulations for both cold and hot metal forming at Wire Düsseldorf 2016, from 4 to 8 April. Henkel will introduce new formulations for some of its leading processes and technologies, including the Bonderite L-FM FL one-step polymer coating process for automotive components and screws, and Bonderite L-FG process lubricant for hot metal forming.
Lubrication solutions for automotive suppliers and tube manufacturers will be presented on the Henkel Adhesive Technologies stand (Hall 11, booth B73) at Wire Düsseldorf 2016, the international wire and cable trade show in Germany.
The current portfolio for Bonderite L-FM FL will particularly interest automotive component manufacturers that do cold forming extrusion of powertrain transmission parts and screws. “This process offers many benefits,” notes Emilio Bucci, Henkel’s Business Development Manager for Cold Forming in Europe. These include: a simplified coating process compared to traditional phosphating (reducing the number of stages from 10 to 3); longer tool life through improved lubrication; improved process efficiency; and greater cost effectiveness.
The process also enhances sustainability by reducing energy usage, eliminating waste and lowering CO2 emissions. Henkel specifically developed its line of Bonderite L-FM polymers for cold forming using environmentally sustainable technology that can easily be applied with in-line or batch systems.
Additionally, Henkel will be showcasing new formulations of Bonderite L-FG, its process lubricant for hot metal forming. “The technology provides a graphite lubricating coating for mandrels of the hot-rolling tube mills,” according to Ilya Gorshenin, Henkel’s Business Development Manager for Forging in Europe. This liquid, stabilized product for simple dilution with water ensures both high adhesion and the absence of smoke, while also helping to reduce process cost by extending the service life of expensive mandrels. The new product is suitable for application on both very cold and very hot surfaces and in difficult cases can even be spray applied directly into the hot shell.
